  15. Marxism is considered the greatest intellectual revolution that has influenced the science of history, and that it combines science and ethics, theory and practice, and the interpretation of the world and the necessity of changing it. There is no branch of human knowledge that has not been affected, and its most prominent historians are Friedrich Engels (d. 1895) and Karl Marx (d. 1883), and it is difficult to summarize this theory in a few paragraphs, and one of its most prominent characteristics is its view of materialism and that it is the material existence that determines consciousness, that the world is unified and independent of consciousness, which is a theory of dialectical origin 124-127.

  32. The School of Annuals, this school appeared in France and the Annals magazine was published under its name from 1929 until today, which is surprising, and perhaps its longevity is in its continuous ability to adapt positively to cultural and scientific changes and institutional conditions, and its most prominent historians are mature and luxurious to Brodal, and one of its most prominent characteristics, it opposed positive history and was not full of national history, as it considered history to be inevitably invited to include what is not written and gave more importance to the contemporary world (the same source, pp. 178-181).
  33. The structuralist school, which is a methodological orientation according to which science extracts structures from things, and structuralism focuses on the current state of things, and witnessed its golden age in the sixties and seventies of the twentieth century, and its most famous historians, Claude Lévi-Strauss, Jacques Lacan, and Louise Toussier, and one of its most prominent temporal characteristics and the identification of the existing relationships between the elements of the studied system, the crisis that the humanities suffer from, the confusion that afflicted the prevailing value system in the world, and the inability of man to control his destiny with his mind and the political liberation of colonies after the Second World War, Salah Al-Din Shoroukh, Introduction to Sociology, Dar Al-Uloom for Publishing and Distribution, (Egypt, 2008), 145.
  34. This school appeared in Germany at the end of the nineteenth century and until the beginning of the twentieth century, and the most prominent of such schools were Leopold von Ranke (1795-1886), Theodor Mommsen (died in 1903) and Ernst Lavis (died 1922), and one of its characteristics is that the historian is content with presenting modern historical facts exactly as they happened, and considered history to be just a gathering of information in favor of sociology, Read More For details, see: Al-Hadi Al-Timouri, Modern Historical Schools, Dar Al-Tanweer for Printing and Publishing, (Beirut, 2013), p. 83.
