This study which is entitled "Intonation in English-Arabic Consecutive Interpreting" aims at investigating the transfer of intonation patterns in consecutive interpreting from English into Arabic. It Hypothesizes that both languages use almost similar tones. The data comprise spontaneous English recordings and their Arabic interpreting by five graduate students from the Translation Department, University of Mosul. They are analyzed auditorily following the intonation system by P. Roach, 2000. The findings reveal that success in transferring intonation patterns leads to success in transferring expressive and natural spoken discourse and that the simple tones are transferred more correctly than the complex ones.
