الملخص

اشتهرت بلاد القفقاس بنشاطها الاقتصادي  من خلال تصدير واستيراد السلع او كونها ممراً لسلع البلدان الاخرى ،اِذ اشتهرت المنطقة بتصدير البغال الجياد وانواع الاسلحة والادوات النحاسية وفراء الثعالب السود الذي كان يتزين به الملوك والخلفاء ومنهم الخليفة المهدي(158-169هـ) فضلا عن سمك الطريخ الذي كان ينقل الى الموصل والعراق عن طريق نهر دجلة .الا ان الرقيق الابيض كان اهم ما تستورده البلدان الاسلامية من هذه الاصقاع. كما تصل المنطقة المنتجات النسيجية للبلاد الاسلامية والتي تشق طريقها الى الامم الوثنية شمالا. وتركزت عمليات التبادل التجاري في القصبات كبرذعة واردبيل ودبيل وغيرها من المناطق. وعُدَّت بعض مدن المنطقة مراكز للتبادل التجاري بين شعوب الشمال وبين الجنوب المسلم كمدينة دربند واتل . اذ تتجمع فيها تجار الاقوام من المسلمين والارمن والروم والسرير واللان والبلغار والروس ، علما ان الروس جمعوا في عملياتهم التجارية بين التجارة والحرب ومن الصعب التكهن متى كانت تتحول سفنهم التجارية الى سفن حربية. وقد تم العثور على نقود مضروبة في العراق بمناطق عديدة في القفقاس
