Section: RESEARCH

Abstract

There is an important group for whom Al-Safadi wrote biographies namely the Arab emirs from the Arab tribes. TheMamluk state deals with this group and tried to contain them by granting them permanent positions and allocating sums of money to win them over, given their importance in maintaining security and stability and maintaining communication with the Mamluk state through its emirs, who were assigned these positions. This is the Emirate of the Arabs, which dates back to the era of the Seljuk state, specifically during the reign of the ruler of Damascus, Prince Tughtekin(497-5522\1103-1128 AD). Al-Safadi wrote biographies of six Arab emirs, and their importance to him varied according to his detailed explanation and mentioning them briefly.

The research aims to shed light on the nature of the relationship between the Mamluk state and the Arab emirs, which was dominated by mutual interests, as well as understanding the role of these emirs in Islamic history.

The research is divided in to axes that include the relationship of the Arab princes with the Mamluks, including the Emirate of Al Fadl, from which the Al Mahana family branched off. The research also addresses the Emirate of Al Marra, the Emir of Al Uqba, and the Emir of the West. The research concluded with a set of results .
